HOLMES, Irma Mae – age 77, of Yarmouth, passed away on November 4, 2014 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth on February 26, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Harold and Bertha (Churchill) Moores. Irma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed most spending time with her family, and always made sure to tell her husband of 55 years “Bud” she loved him. She was an extremely active member of the community, especially the Catholic Women’s League. In her spare time she attended many community events and was known to be very personable and outgoing. During her working years she worked at the Yarmouth Airport. She is survived by her loving husband, Albert “Bud” Holmes; son, Jeff (Karen) Holmes, Yarmouth; daughter, Kelly (Scott) Ricketts, St. Petersburg, Florida; brother, Walter Moores, Ontario; and grandchildren, Brendan, Kristen, Hannah. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Bruce. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. from St. Ambrose Cathedral with Father Gerald David officiating. A reception will follow in the Jubilee Room.
