The death occurred Prince County Hospital, Summerside, with her family by her side, on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, of Gertrude “Gertie” Elizabeth Murray, formerly of Conway, aged 87, beloved wife of late Leland Murray. Born in Inverness Nov. 10, 1926, daughter of the late Mark and Harriett (Bridges) Coughlin. Dear mother to Margaret (Fraser) Squires, Summerside; Helen MacKendrick (Norman Arsenault), Summerside; Joe Casey (Eleanor Ramsay), Miscouche; Barbara (Tom) Bradshaw, Conway; Gail (Rene) Arsenault, Wilmot; Maxine Casey (“Bert” Harry Burton), Summerside; Stanley Casey, Charlottetown; Kim (Rory) Curran, Ellerslie and Karen (John) Rank, Conway. Loving grandmother to 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Gertie is also survived by her brothers and sisters Bill (Geralda) Coughlin, Tyne Valley; Rose (Arthur) Annand, Summerside; Bob (late Gladys) Coughlin, Summerside; Amelia (late Wayne) Perry, Summerside; Harold (Goldie) Coughlin, Poplar Grove; Ruth (late Harold) Tuplin, Cascumpec; Stanley (Bernadette) Coughlin, Milburn; Shirley (Philip) Dempsey, St Stephen, N.B; Art (Jean) Coughlin, Richmond; Edna (late John) Coughlin, Summerside; brother in law Ralph (Alice) Murray, Springhill; and sisters in law Marj Coughlin, Tyne Valley; Eunice Coughlin, Conway and Lia (late Stanley) Murray, Ellerslie. Predeceased by her parents, husband Leland (2013), son Mark Casey, step-daughter Faith Rushton and brothers Clarence, John and Ben. Resting at the Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel, with visiting hours Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service Thursday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. in the St. John’s Church, St. Eleanor's. Interment to follow in the St. Peter`s Anglican Cemetery, Foxley River. In memory of Gertie, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
