It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Glen Colburn on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Gordon and Katherine Colburn. Glen was self employed and spent his life on the water, as a lobster fisherman. He was a member of the Harbour Authority of North Sydney, Ballast Grounds and spent endless hours volunteering there.
Glen is survived by his wife and best friend, Heather; daughter, Sharah (Bryce), Alberta; sons, Michael, Montreal, Que. and Ryan, at home, and by grandsons, Broden and Liam. He is also survived by his brother, Donald (Donna) and very special friend and co-worker, Jimmy Clarke.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Albert and Shara Phalen.
Visitation for Glen will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of Glen's life will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center or the An Cala Palliative Care Unit.
