Charles Robert “Bob” Smith
Charles Robert “Bob” Smith, 78 of Stellarton, formerly of Greenhill, passed away November 11, 2014 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Pugwash, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Bessie (Smith) Smith.
Bob was a resident of Stellarton for the past two years having resided in Greenhill for a number of years.
During his working years he was employed as a Millwright at Michelin Tire from where he retired after 21 years. He was a member of the Michelin Retirees Club. He was a member of the First United Baptist Church in New Glasgow where he was active on the Board of Management, and also served as a handyman with his friend Gary Carter for a number of years. He was also involved with organizing suppers at the church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Deanna (Blackwood), Stellarton; daughters Cindy (Jim) Ward, Stellarton; Amy (Larry) Mason, Greenhill; grandsons, Nicholas (Jeannie), Mathew (Allie Rivers) and Patrick; a brother James F. Smith, Truro; many cousins.
Cremation to take place. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday from the First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow with Rev. Randy Stanton presiding. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial of ashes will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the First United Baptist Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
