1926 - 2014

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Edna Josephine Pichette on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 88 years. She was born on October 29, 1926 in Speers, SK., to Myrtle and Gilbert Nelson. As a child, Edna attended Rothermere School, and as a young woman, she worked hard loading box cars with wood. Edna married Dennis Carpenter in 1943 and had two children. She became widowed, and met Gordon Pichette in the late 1950’s and they began their life together in Leoville where she ran a boarding house and Gordon ran the garage. In 1963, they moved to Prince Albert where Edna took pride in being a homemaker. In 1975, they purchased an acreage in Meath Park where they enjoyed many years. She always had fresh baked bread, a big garden and could make a meal from whatever was available. In the 1980’s, Gordon took on a new role with Weyerhaeuser as a watchman with Camp 16 at Wapawekka Lake, and Edna followed. They enjoyed the time there with family and friends, many Christmases, summer vacations, and always lots of fishing trips. In 2008, they moved into Meath Park where they lived out the rest of their days together with family close by. Recently Edna moved into Southridge Care Home in Christopher Lake where she lived for a short time. Edna is survived by her children Terry (Mary) and their children Ryan (Chantelle) and Chris (Tamie); Don (Linda) and their children Savanna (Aaron) and Brandon (Kaylla); Garry (Genny) and their children Dennis (Jennifer) and Denneil (Christie); Fay and her children Sheila, Tracy, Michelle, Karie and Dennie; Dwight and his daughter Destiny; her son-in-law Jim and his children Shane and Lasha; her twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; her sister Viola, her sister-in-law Marion (Fred) Ballachay; and numerous nieces and nephews.
