MacDONALD, SHIRLEY - Shirley Isabel MacDonald,“Shishi”, formerly of Moncton, New Brunswick, died peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2014 at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Hardwicke, Northumberland Co., N.B., Shirley was the daughter of Edith (MacMaster) and Herbert A. MacDonald. Shirley graduated from Miramichi Rural High School and Success Business College, Moncton. Upon graduation Shirley stayed in Moncton and began her career with the T. Eaton Co. Ltd., Blue Cross, and Modern Construction Limited. Shirley retired in 1987 after 18 years’ service with the Central Guaranty Trust Company. Shirley was a member of Central United Church, Moncton and a former member of Beausejour Business Ladies Curing Club and the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Moncton, N.B. A much loved and cherished sister and aunt, Shirley is survived by her sister Marion (Charles Baxter) and numerous nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her sisters Jean Williston Keohan, Constance Petrie and Gwendolyn Rougeau and brothers, Bliss and Blair.
Arrangements are being be made for a memorial service in Moncton, N.B., with burial in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Bay du Vin, N.B. for August 2015. Donations in Shirley’s memory can be made to the “Friends of the Moncton Hospital” or a charity of choice. The family would like to thank the staff of the QEII Infirmary Site - 8.4, Parkstone Enhanced Care – Flemming Way, and the staff and residents of Bradford Hall, Parkland Retirement Living for their compassionate care and kindness to Shirley over the past three years.
