BRODERSEN, WILLENA - Willena Pearl Brodersen, loving wife of Thor Brodersen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born 1922 in Dipper Harbour, NB she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lillian (Belding) Thompson. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Willard, Christie and Harley Thompson. Willena was a Veteran of WWII serving overseas in the armored division. She was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of Dipper Harbour Baptist Church and also attended Main Street Baptist Church (Rivercross Church). The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgewood Veterans Wing for all their care and help. Besides her devoted husband of 54 years Thor, she is survived by her son Leif Brodersen (Edith Comeau) of Saint John, and Blake Brodersen (Judy) and Philip Brodersen (Jayne) both of Rothesay (both of whom she took under her wing since they were 2 ½ and 3 ½ years old); granddaughter Michelle Brodersen (Tim Lamb); great grandchildren Amelia, Franklin and Thor; brother Eric Thompson (Beverly) of Dipper Harbour; sisters Mary Kane of Dartmouth, NS and Edith Baines (Raymond) of Saint John; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. A tribute to a Veteran service will commence at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service. Interment will follow in Chance Harbour/Dipper Harbour Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at Seaside Baptist Church, 1410 Route 790, Dipper Harbour. Remembrances in memory of Willena may be made to the Rivercross Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
