The interment service was held at Memory Gardens. The pallbearers were Melvin's grandsons; Robbie Norton, CJ Haubrich, Kody Norton-Byers, Jamie Norton-Harms, Dakota Norton-Harms and granddaughter Angela Dupuis. Survived by Laureen Falk (Al Gruber), Betty Foster (Wayne Foster), Linda Haubrich (Cal Haubrich) Maryanne Norton-Byers (Kirk Byers) Bonnie Norton (Rick Young); two daughters-in-law Yvonne Norton and Gail Norton and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved very much but are too many to mention; as well as sister-in laws, Evelyn Norton, Elvina Finlay and Dorothy Finlay. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Mary Norton of 60 years, his son Earl Norton and 4 months ago his other
son Larry Norton. Also predeceased by his sisters Edna, Ruth and brother Robert. Dad lived on his own until the age of 92 at which time he had a fall that left him requiring extra care so at that time he moved to the Swift Current Care Centre. The nurses there gave dad the extra care he required with one gal Theresa that stole his heart with her excellent nursing skills! His love of music continued playing the guitar, accordian & piano, entertaining all around him right up to the week before he passed. Dad was a mechanic, farmer, a man of all trades. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren telling me weekly how much he loved his kids and grandkids as he would sit & look at all the pictures. He loved to tell old stories about his growing up and the devilment Uncle Bob and his sisters Ruth and Edna used to get into. He had a great sense of humor always answering the phone under a different name....Kelly's pool room, Pete, George....just to get a giggle. He also had a love for animals, adopting a cat after mom passed. Dad indeed lived a good life.....we will miss him and those beautiful blue eyes. In his memory, memorial donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St., Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 2R3. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
