WALLACE, GORDON - 1923 - 2014 - Gordon James Wallace, 91, formerly of Butler St. Moncton, passed away peacefully at K.E. Spencer Memorial Home on Sunday, November 16, 2014. Gordon was born in Moncton, son of the late Gordon Baxter Wallace and Minnie Pearl (Brown) Wallace. Gordie will be sadly missed by his children; Dale (Debbie), Carl (Linda), Linda Donald, Kevin (Brenda), step-children; Peter (Susan), Shirley, Thomas, Kathleen (Bruce), Leta and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn a brother Clair (Elsie) in Toronto and a sister-in-law Nellie. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Nora (Whiteley), second wife Shirley (Cosman), sister Grace, brothers Allison, Donald, Harry, infant brother Walter, son-in-law Ernie and grandson Christopher. Family meant everything to Gordie and he was a great inspiration to all who knew him. Gordie worked for CN at the Main Shops for 39 years, retiring in 1979. He played an active role in establishing the Moncton Shops Credit Union, now Omista Credit Union. Gordie was an avid horse racing fan and for many years attended races in Dieppe, Saint John, Fredericton as well as PE. He loved to play a good game of pool with his fellow pensioners and his easy going personality was admired by all.
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 10:00 am followed by a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in Gordie's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
