SAULNIER, Evangeline Louise – 93, The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth, formerly of Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 in The Meadows. Born July 21, 1921 in Pinkney’s Point, she was a daughter of the late William and Lena (Deveau) DeViller. She was a homemaker, and was a member and past president of the Pinkney’s Point Happy Seniors. Evangeline loved dancing and enjoyed music, reading, knitting, quilting, playing cards. She is survived by her four sons, Herman (Rosella) Saulnier, Carroll (Catherine) Saulnier, Ivan (Agnes) Saulnier, all of Pinkney’s Point; Eric (Lilly) Saulnier, Melbourne; 21 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Ervin (Gertrude) DeViller, Pinkney’s Point; Frank (Lorraine) DeViller, Yarmouth; Wallace (Florene) DeViller, Plymouth; Ernie (Connie) DeViller, Melbourne; Larry (Pauline) DeViller, Little River Harbour; sisters, Addie Doucette, Pinkney’s Point; Genevieve Allen, Ontario; Mathilde Dugas, Church Point; Corinne (Vernon) Jacquard, Wedgeport. She was also godmother to Mathilde. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jeremie W. Saulnier; a daughter, Rosalind Saulnier; brothers, Lawrence, Stanley and Howard DeViller; a sister, Celina Frizzell; half-brothers, William DeViller Jr., Edmond DeViller, Adolph Deveau, Albany Deveau; half-sisters, Jeanette Aquaro and Rita Rhyno. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, with prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held Wednesday, November 19 at 2 p.m. at Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father John Mills officiated. Interment followed in Saint Raphael Cemetery, Pinkney’s Point, after which there was a light lunch at Club l’Estantue in Pinkney’s Point. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gilles Boudreau & Friends Cancer Help Fund, Saint Raphael’s Cemetery Fund or to a charity of choice.
