It is with heartfelt sadness, that we the family of Sheila Murphy, announce the death of our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend on Nov. 19, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the younger daughter of W. Vernon and Hannah (Snow) Murphy.
Sheila enjoyed life and had a great sense of humor that she always shared with her family and friends. During her younger years, Sheila enjoyed figure skating. She was a member of Br. 12 Monday night dart league. She always enjoyed and cherished her time at the family cottage with her grandchildren.
Sheila is survived by her children, Verna Lewis (Archie), David Reid (Carla), Annie Ayre (Norman), Maureen Goode (Paul), her sister, Kathy Tonet, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sheila was predeceased by her husband David Reid Sr., her parents, and her grandson, Matthew Goode.
Visitation will be held today Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Sydney River with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
