It is with great sadness that the family of the late Idella Rowena Hammond announce her passing on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 84 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Laverne (Ronald) Byrnes, Monroe (Judith) Hammond, Joanne Brockway, Colleen (Ignatius) Mannings, Varrick Hammond and Morgan G. (Theresa) Hammond; grandson with whom she resided Morgan Sparkes (Lisa); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers: Frank (Renee) Penney and Guy (Joan) Penney; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Eric Hammond, parents Frank and Elizabeth Jean Penney, son-in-law Noble Brockway, brothers Keith and John Penney. A special thank you to Doctors and nursing staff at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
