Passed away peacefully at the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony on Nov. 17, 2014, Mrs. Rita Applin of Pigeon Cove, in her 84th year. Left to mourn her passing are her loving husband of 64 years, Edgar; her children Leona (Cliff), Fanny Ann (Harold), Ches (Pearl), Gideon (Mary), Everett (Elaine), and Myrtle (Roland). She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren Ann (Ken), Jamie (Shelly), Vanessa (Chuck), Boyd (Heidi), Ricky (Jennifer), Johnny (Waynette), Mandy (Wade), Shane (Gina), Keirsten (Brandon) and Elgin, as well as nine great-grandchildren Michael, Alyson, Nikala, Alexis. Anna, Joshua, Taylor, Aria and Kayleigh as well as her three brothers. Rita lived to see the passing of her children Edgar Jr., Dale and Myles, her parents and one brother and one sister. Visitation took place at the United Church in Pigeon Cove, from where the funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday Nov. 20 with Rev. John McGonigle officiating. Burial followed the service in the United Cemetery in Black Duck Cove. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M.
