Barbara Isabel McAllister

September 16, 1927 – November 17, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Barb McAllister announces her passing on November 17th, while surrounded by family members at the Sturgeon Hospital in St. Albert, AB.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Beverly (Phyllis) McAllister of Sundre, AB and Robert (Anita) McAllister of Williams Lake B.C. and by her daughters, Valerie (Dale) Roy of St. Albert and Phyllis (Gary) Cheetham of St. Albert as well as by David (Nancy) Wheaton of Halifax, N.S. and Barb Wheaton of Sackville, N.B.
Barb also leaves a legacy of 10 wonderful grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “The Nanny”.
She will also be greatly missed by her sister, Betty George of Sackville New Brunswick and by her nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Barb was predeceased by her husband, Bayne McAllister; her daughter Lynn and her husband David Hoyt; her companion Keith Wheaton and by her brothers, Tom Carter, Carl Carter and Bradford Carter.
Barb was born and raised in Sackville, N.B., raising her own family in Campbellton and Sackville. She loved to volunteer at the Legion and Curling Club, and was usually first to arrive and the last to leave any social function. One of Barb’s most endearing qualities was her ability to “tell it like it is”, including when it was time to get her another glass of wine! She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
We are so thankful for the many doctors and nurses at the Sturgeon Hospital, who took great care of our Mom. A very special thank you goes to her family doctors, Elizabeth Dixon and Ben Macedo. These two people are amazing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (506) 364-8188. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, November 27th, 2014 from 7-9 pm at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at St. Ann’s Anglican Church, 65 British Settlement Road, Westcock, NB, on Friday November 28th at 2:00pm, with The Rev. Dr. Ranall Ingalls officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers or sympathy cards, the family asks that you donate or volunteer to your favorite charity… and if you want to tip a glass of chardonnay in her memory, Barb will be sure to look down at you with a smile!
