Conrad Stumpf

Conrad Stumpf was born March 9, 1916 on the farm at Flowing Well, SK to Maria and Conrad Stumpf. He was the seventh child born in a family of five girls and two boys. His father died when he was two and his mother married Peter Roh, a widower with seven children. He attended Meadow School and was part of the Zion Flowing Well Lutheran Church community. There he met Elsie Hall and they were married October 19, 1940. They began farming together on the Stumpf homestead in the spring of 1941. For the next twelve years he farmed until they moved to Ernfold and he began working for the CPR. He loved his horses and it was hard for him to give them up. By this time there were three children; Jean, Leonard and Marvin. Con enjoyed sports days in the summer and competed in all the races. He and Elsie liked to go fishing and became avid rock hounds. They enjoyed visiting and playing cards with friends and going to country dances. They took many spontaneous trips as well as bus tours with friends. Con was a member of the Lions Club for many years. He retired to Morse in 1975 where he resided until 2001 when he moved to the Herbert Heritage Manor. He became a caregiver when Elsie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and continued to visit her daily after she moved into the nursing home until her death in 2003. When his own health failed he moved to the Foyer in Ponteix in June 2014 where he resided until his death November 19, 2014 at the age of 98. His sense of humor and love of teasing remained with him to the end. Con was the last surviving member of the larger Stumpf-Roh family. He will be sadly missed by his children Jean(Jack) Ohmstede of La Mesa, CA, Leonard (Linda) Stumpf of Morse, SK, Marvin (Joanne) Stumpf of Red Deer, AB; six grandchildren Marty(Jen) Ohmstede, Jason(Gabriella) Ohmstede, Tracy (Kenny) Lavigne, Jeffrey Stumpf (Kristin Logan), Collin Stumpf (Erin Richmond), Darren Stumpf and ten great grandchildren, Wesley and Bryce Ohmstede, McKenna and Maguire Lavigne, Chase and Emma Ohmstede, Joshua, Ethan, Caden Stumpf, and Isabelle Stumpf.
