RODGERS, REGINALD "REG" - 1924 - 2014 - Reginald “Reg” Rodgers, 90, of the Veteran’s Health Centre in Moncton and formerly of Aurèle Cormier Street in Shediac, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at his residence. Born on January 7, 1924 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Reginald and Annie (Bursey) Rodgers. An Overseas Veteran of the 2nd World War, Reg served in England with the Royal Canadian Air Force 1942-1945. Following the 2nd World War he attended Saint Dunstan’s University in P.E.I. where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1950. Before his retirement 1985, he worked for Fisheries and Oceans Canada. A former member of the Legion Branch #33, Shediac, Charter Member of the Shediac Lions Club, Shediac Athletics Club, Saint-John Ambulance, Shediac Minor Hockey and the Shediac Bay Yacht Club. He was an avid golfer and long-time member with Pine Needles Golf Club in Haute-Aboujagane. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Agnes (MacAulay) Rodgers; four sons: Michael (Julie Belliveau) and Tim both of Shediac, David and Rob (Lynne Bellefleur) both of Dieppe; a sister, Pat Goldman of Arizona; six grandchildren: Vanessa, Matthew, Renée, Mark, Shawn and Sacha, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Tommy (2012) and a brother, Arthur.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Point-du-Chêne, on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow at the Shediac Multifunctional Centre, 58 Festival Street, Shediac. Interment will be St-Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery in Shediac. In memory of Reg, a contribution to the Vestiaire St-Joseph (Food Bank) would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral Centre, Shediac (532-3297).
