Boyd, Barbara Ruth, age 84, of Yarmouth, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Florence (Butters) MacConnell. She was a former employee of Thistle Knit Wear, Boutilier Prosser Ltd. and Women’s Up to Date Shop. She was a member of Beacon United Church and she attended North Baptist Church, Yarmouth. She was Past Matron of Keystone No. 5, Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was a lifelong resident of Yarmouth before moving to Glen Haven Manor, two years ago. She is survived by sons, Alan Roberts (Bertha Langille), New Glasgow; Bruce Roberts, Maine; granddaughters, Erin (Chris) Hale, New Glasgow; Kara (Scott Sheaves), New Glasgow; Alana (Taylor Knickle), Halifax; great granddaughter, Emmerson Hale; brother, Charles “Buck”, Yarmouth; William, Yarmouth; step daughter, Jane Landry. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harry Roberts and second husband, Garth Boyd, step son Chris Boyd. The family would like to thank the caregivers and nursing staff of Glen Haven Manor for the care given to Barbara over the past two years. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place in the spring of 2015 in Arcadia Cemetery, Yarmouth Co. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
