Rose-Marie Varner

VARNER, Rose-Marie Hildreth - Kingston, NS- aged 90 passed away, Thursday, November 20, 2014 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Wilmot, she was a daughter of the late George and Lily D (Parker) Clark. In early years Rose worked at Dick’s Motor Court, Wilmot where she met her husband John. In August they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends. She also later worked seasonally for local strawberry producers. Rose enjoyed rug hooking, quilting, and knitting. After losing her sight, she continued knitting dish cloths which she enjoyed giving to her many visitors. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Melvern Square and will be remembered by her family as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Rose is survived by her husband, John, Kingston; daughters, Patricia (Jim) Kennedy, Courtenay, BC; Mary (Angus) McLean, Torbrook; Linda (Bruce) Naugler, North Kingston; Judy Adams (Steve Morse), Nictaux and sons, Steven (Christine) Varner, Stittsville, ON; Robert (Adele) Varner, Chapeau, PQ; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Gertrude, Beatrice and Mary in infancy; brothers, Brenton, Edward, Kenneth and Arthur. Visitation was held Sunday, November 23, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service was held Monday, November 24, 2014 with Rev. Bruce Kaiser officiating. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only.
