Jimmy Murphy, 51, of Quarry Road, Glace Bay, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of Rita (MacQueen) Murphy and the late Rory Murphy.
Jimmy was a fisherman by trade; he also was a truck driver in Alberta for four years. He was a member of Gordon United Church, Reserve Mines. Jimmy enjoyed darts, hunting, fishing, baseball and watching his Boston Bruins. He was blessed with a great sense of humour.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Carmella Ann Morrison; daughter, Kelly; son, Mike (Robin); mother-in-law, Carmella Morrison; special niece, Crissy and nephew, Neil; sisters, Carolyn, Ruby (Joey Mackie), Dolena, Nancy (Lennie Treige), Cheryl, Lindsay (Darrell MacDonald); brothers, Parker (Winna), Wilson (Anita), Chuck; sisters-in-law, Leona Morrison (Brian), Mary (Dempsey); brothers-in-law, Johnny Savory (Louise), Gary Savory (Carol),Wayne Savory, Billy Morrison (Terri) and Ray Morrison (Dawn). Also surviving are Jimmy’s grandchildren, Myles, Landon, Gage, Lex, Violet and his many friends.
Besides his father, Jimmy was predeceased by his sister, Rita, father-in-law, James ‘Ippi’ Morrison and his brother-in-law, Howard Boutilier.
Cremation has taken place. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay with Martha MacDonald presiding. Interment to follow in Gordon United Cemetery, Reserve Mines.
