With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bruce William Cormier age 69 of Amherst at Gables Lodge surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Paul and Martha (Roberts) Cormier.
Bruce worked for Summit Construction for 25 years, also Town of Amherst for 8 years as a carpenter. He was honored to belong to Amherst Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years retiring as Captain of the Ladder Truck.
Bruce enjoyed fishing from dusk to dawn and was very happy to have a fishing trip to Quebec and Newfoundland.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sandy of 45 years and daughter Tammy Lynn (Craig Churchill) of Amherst and granddaughter Amanda Marjorie and great grandson Peter Raymond William Gilroy all of Amherst. Bruce is also survived by grandson Robbie Cormier - Leggett (Kathy) of Fredericton, NB and granddaughter Ashley Cormier of Amherst, brother Norman “Tommy” Cormier (Karen) of Hamilton, ON, half - sister Rose (Terry) of Selkirk ON and son Paul by his first wife, several nieces and nephews, special niece Lori Anne Pugsley and extended family of East Wing at Gables Lodge.
Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by infant son Bruce, sisters Vivian MacPhee, Paula Cormier, infant brother Lloyd and half-sisters Mary, Nina, Leona and Anita.
At Bruce’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Memorial donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of your choice.
