Janet “Jessie” Hansen

Janet “Jessie” Hanson, late of Birch Hills, SK passed away on November 26, 2014 in Birch Hills, SK at the age of 94 years. Janet was born in Morayshire, Scotland on March 24, 1920. The family immigrated to Canada in 1927. She attended Bonnie Hill School and then went to work as domestic help. It was while working for the Murphy Hanson family that she met the love of her life, Harvey Hanson. They were married on November 5, 1941. The following year twins Dale & Darlene arrived. Farming was their occupation. She worked hard on the farm doing any tasks necessary. In 1949 she accepted Christ as her saviour and loved the Lord the rest of her life. She enjoyed life and filled it with gardening, cooking, baking, knitting, bowling and singing and going to church. Janet is survived by her son: Dale (Linda) and his family: Darren (Denise), Warren (Carmen), and Carmen (Ralph) and her 6 great-grandchildren and her 3 great-great-grandchildren; her daughter: Darlene (Wally) and family Laurie, Leanne and Kevin; her brother: Jim (Betty) McKenzie; her brothers-in-law: Huie and Jesse (Bernice) Hanson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and good friends. Janet was predeceased by her husband Harvey, her parents and parents-in-law, her brother Don (Barb), her sisters: Elizabeth (Ronald) Robinson, Margaret “Peg” (Charlie) Chester, and Doreen (Harold) Alexander; her daughter-in-law Evelyn Hanson, her great-granddaughter Rylee Anna, and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Laurence (Lenore) Hanson, Margaret Hanson and Stella Hanson. We’re left with precious memories and we’ll meet again. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 – 2:00 pm, Birch Hills Lutheran Church, Birch Hills, SK.
