With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of John ‘Dunie’ MacDonald formerly of Blackett’s Lake on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John and Katie (Gordon) MacDonald, Alexandria Street.

John was employed on the railroad of the Sydney Steel Corporation until his retirement in 1989. He then had lots of time to enjoy his hobbies and other pursuits in Blackett’s Lake until ill heath necessitated his move to Harbourstone in 2007.
He is survived by daughters, Judy (Gerry) Presse, Orleans, Ont., and Ann (Malcolm) Lewis, Coxheath; granddaughter, Tracy Presse, Orleans, Ont.; and sister-in-law, Theresa (Ted) Slaney, Montreal, Que.
He was predeceased by brothers, Donald, Gordon, Colin and Kenneth, sisters, Grace, Tillie and Donna.
He was the last surviving member of both the MacDonald and MacLeod families.
There will be no visitation. A graveside committal service will be held at Dr. John Pringle Cemetery, Blackett’s Lake Road on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating.
