TITARENKO, HANS RICHARD

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Hans Titarenko, who passed away on November 29, 2014 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon with his family by his side. Hans was born January 6, 1959 in Prince Albert. He attended primary school at Connaught School, and junior high at Prince Charles and Riverside Schools, excelling in track and field and athletic programs. He enjoyed playing sports, especially men’s fastball. Hans had a keen interest in political science and history, with special interest in World War II. In the early years, his hobbies included building model airplanes, collecting old baseball and hockey cards with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Black Hawks being his favourite teams. He loved playing board games, listening to Rock and Roll, and appreciated those who could challenge him in a good game of chess. He loved fishing, outdoor activities and a beautiful sunset on the horizon. His wonderment of the natural world led him to observe constellations or an eclipse. With courage, he faced the challenges of being a single father, and he also took great joy in the company of his house cats. Hans worked for Saskatchewan Power briefly, and later with the Canadian National Railway. His certification in cooking and butchering led him to prepare wonderful dishes which he shared with his family. A kidney transplant exactly thirteen years ago reduced his employment to part-time placements with various companies. Hans leaves to mourn his son Jordan; his siblings Susan (Ravi) Prakash, Maria Titarenko, Robert Titarenko, Katherina (Randy) Choka; his niece Carrie Sutherland (Ben Sawa); his nephews Scott Sutherland, Maxwell Choka, Nathan and Jessie Johnson, Ennio Titarenko. He was predeceased by his father Viktor Titarenko; his mother Hilda Titarenko; his son’s mother Rose Aimoe. Thank you to the Victoria Hospital Emergency Room M.D., and nurses in Prince Albert; and to the Neurological Unit at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Those wishing to make donations in memory of Hans, may do so to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4 at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Iris Kristiansdottir officiating. Interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Donald M. Moriarty, Funeral Director.
