­TRENTON – Marie Elizabeth Long (nee Duff), 71, of Trenton, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the PCHA with her family by her side.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Isabelle (Currie) Duff (Stellarton).
Marie was loved and will be sadly missed by her three children: Fred and spouse Debra, Saint John, NB; David and his wife Mary, Oakville, ON; and Stacey and her husband Stephen McKay, Fort Saskatchewan, Alta; as well as her seven grandchildren: Robert and Steven, Brandon and Courtney, Matthew, Jacob and Eric, her three great-grandchildren: Madyson, Riley and Nathan; brothers, John (Claire), Stellarton and Gordon (Dorise), Trenton.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Howard (Trenton), brothers, Ronald and Ernest Duff, and her sister, Paula.
Special thanks to Dr. Gerry Farrell and his staff of the Palliative Care Unit at PCHA for amazing support and care as well as to the transplant doctors and staff at Toronto General Hospital.
Marie was retired from NSLC, where she had many friends, and more recently all her friends in the county area who played cards regularly with her as she looked forward to the meetings each week.
Marie is resting at R.H Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, with visitation 7-9 p.m. Friday. Service will be held at Christ the King Parish at 11 a.m. Saturday with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, with memories of friends to follow at the church hall.
Flowers are welcome, although a token donation to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society will help support family comfort in the local community or a charity of choice.
