SPRAGG, GERALD FRANCIS - On Thursday, December 4, 2014, Gerald Francis Spragg, loving husband of Elaine (Barker) Spragg, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, April 14, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles and Ida (Morrell) Spragg. Gerry worked for nearly 30 years as a Welder and Structural Steel Foreman for Ocean Steel, retiring in 1983. He then went to work for the Saint John Boys and Girls Club for 13 years. Gerry did anything that was asked of him and received a National Award from the club for his dedicated service. He also volunteered for 25 years with the Salvation Army and was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. Gerry was a long-time and much-loved volunteer with Fundy Funeral Home. He was a kind and generous man with a terrific sense of humour who will be dearly missed. Along with his wife Elaine, Gerry is also survived by his daughter Sandra and Elaine’s children Gregg, Kelly, Bliss and Neil; brothers Donnie and Jimmy; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, Gerry was also predeceased by his brothers Hubert, Lawrence, Howard and George and his sister Rita Laird.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), with visitation Sunday from 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 8, 2014 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am followed by a reception at the funeral home. Interment at a later date.
