We regret to announce the death of Effie Wilkie Ryan, 90, formerly of Sydney/New Glasgow, on Dec. 3, 2014 at Foyer Pere Fiset, Cheticamp.
Born at North Sydney, she was the eldest daughter of the late Wilson and Sadie Gwinn.
Effie is survived by her daughters, Starr Wilkie-Comitini (Santi) and Angie Ryan-Masone (Joey); son, David Ryan; sisters, Bertha Gwinn, Rae De Young and brother, Ricky Gwinn as well as eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husbands, Robert Wilkie and Duncan Ryan; daughter, Roberta 'Bobbie' Timmons; sisters, Mary Hayden, Iris Wilkie, Vida Irving and brother, Fred Gwinn.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at Aspy Bay United Church, Aspy Bay, with Rev. Margie Wood officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery with reception to follow at the Culture Center, Cape North.
