WILLIAMS, Mary Ann -99, of North Welsford Street, Pictou, and formerly of New Glasgow, passed away December 3, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a brief illness. Born in Lower Glencoe, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (MacDonald) Bray. A woman of deep faith, Mary was a longtime member of the Stella Maris Parish, Pictou, and was also an active member of the Catholic Women’s League, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Notre Dame Association. Fondly known to her family as “Gigi”, she is survived by her daughter, Betty (Albert) Hardy, Pictou; grandchildren, Paula, Marcia (Stephen), Susan, Jennifer (Steven); great grandchildren, Zach, Kayla, Kyra, Jorja; special nieces and nephews, Mary Fraser, John Carter, Elmer MacLaughlin, Berton MacLaughlin, Adrien Carter; many nieces and nephews; two special family friends who visited twice each year and were very dear to her, Anna & Peggy, and also her card playing friend, Juliette. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her sisters, Nellie Bowles, Margaret Cunningham, Bertha Crowtz, and Lillian Carter; her brothers, Martin, Mike, John and Frank Bray; and special nephew, Jack Bowles. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 PM today (Friday) in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will take place 11:00 AM Saturday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please.
