Andrew Dawson

DAWSON, O.S. ANDREW WILLIAM GERALD - The unexpected death of O.S. Andrew William Gerald Dawson occurred in Victoria, BC on Sunday, November 30th, 2014. He was born on February 24, 1979 in Saint John, NB to biological mother Joanne Saunders and parents Leona Rodrigue and William Dawson. Andrew attended Harbour View High School and the New Brunswick Community College. Following this, he pursed his passion with concrete, eventually founding Andy's Concrete in Saint John. He took great pride in his work; perfecting his craft over time. Andrew was very eager to show his family and friends his work, often taking them along to his job sites. In 1998, Andrew felt a call to serve his country and decided to enroll in the Royal Military College Saint-Jean in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. After finishing at the academy, Andrew joined the Royal Canadian Navy as an Ordinary Seaman. Andrew will forever be remembered for his carefree attitude and his sense of humor. A prankster by nature with a sarcastic wit, who could sweet talk his way out of anything. He will leave behind the legacy of always trying his absolute best to be a rock for everyone; trying to ensure they chose the right path in life. If he saw someone in trouble, he was there to help - he was a wonderfully positive influence in many lives. He loved his family more than anything in the world, and was an incredibly devoted father to his son Trevor. Trevor looked up to Andrew to do all the “boy” things with. They made many visits to the skate park and went riding bikes together often. Along with his son Trevor William David Dawson and Trevor's mother Rebecca Halpin of Duncan, BC; Andrew is also survived by his brother Normand Therien (Christien) of Montreal, QC; his sisters; Sandy Payne, Carmen Therien and Helene Dixon (Wesley) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Chelsea Crossman (Sean) of Saint John, NB, Kayleigh Lively (Ian Chase) and Keighan Whelly (Brian) of Rothesay, NB. As well, his nieces Rebecca, Jayla Dawson, Isabelle, Vanessa, Melody, Arya, and his nephews Brandon, Jocelyn, Richard, Caiden, Ronan, Theoren and Cody. Andrew was predeceased by aunt Anna Whipple and his grandfather Howard Wilson.
