John Ronald McCue

John Ronald McCue

Passed on: December 3rd, 2014

October 31, 1967 - December 3, 2014 John McCue was a devoted father and outdoorsman who loved to spend time with his son Jack and daughter Hannah. Despite his illness, John was hunting moose with friends only two weeks ago. He inherited his love of the woods and outdoors from his father Francis - also following his footsteps into a career as a millwright. John worked for 25 years in Lab City - the ideal location for someone who lived for fishing, boating, snowmobiling and weekends at his cabin. In 2013, John returned to the island for treatment and was able to spend many hours relaxing amongst family and friends in "Southeast." In many ways, his trips to the Placentia homestead were the best treatment for John. There as a child, John spent summers following his grandfather around. Eventually helping him with the family vegetable garden, the hay, sheep and sawmill. John never took for granted the incredible "gifts" the family farm gave him. He was always asking for the re-telling of stories about the old days, was grateful to share his love of "Southeast" with his family. His love for "Southeast" was surpassed only by his absolute devotion to his wife Tammy and children Jack and Hannah. They made his life complete and with them his love lives on forever in their hearts. John will be forever missed by his loving wife Tammy and their children Jack and Hannah; His sisters: Marlene (Barry) and their children Bridget, Lily, Caroline and Ryan Walsh: and Clara (Geoff) and their children Norah and Ian Veinott; His Mother, Elaine McCue (nee Lannon); He is predeceased by his father Francis McCue and his grandparents; Ronald and Florence (Greene) Lannon and Jack and Clara (Murray) McCue. Loved, celebrated and sadly missed by his Uncles; George (Rosalind), Ronald, Eugene, Albert, Thomas (Missy), and Brian; Aunts; Sandra (Ron), Norma (Nicholas), Barbara (Ernie), Carmel as well as his Aunt Cecilia McCue; Mourning his passing are also his mother and father-in law Ralph and Judy Ackerman, his sister-in-law Tracey (John) and brother-in-law Bradley (Jillian) along with many cousins and close friends from Placentia, Grand Falls - Windsor and Labrador City. Heartfelt gratitude and appreciation goes to the dedicated team of nurses, doctors and support staff at the Bliss Cancer Centre and the Miller Centre and a very special thank you to his family doctor and friend, Paula Walsh.
