NEW GLASGOW – Harold Hussey. It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Harold Maxwell Hussey, on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the age of 83. He was a son of the late George and Martha (Hanes) Hussey. He was a veteran of the Korean War with 2 tours of duty and remained in the army for 27 years. He then worked for Maritime Steel Foundry until his retirement. In his day, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved nature. He was also an excellent gardener. He was a proud Newfoundlander and went by the name Newfie for years. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma (Swan). He will be remembered by his 3 children, Karen (Brian) McGowan; Angela Flemming and Charmaine Hussey; his 3 grandchildren, Matthew, Sara and Mitchell. He is also survived by brothers, Cecil and John. Dad is resting at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, with visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday. Funeral service 2 pm Tuesday in Trinity United Church, with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial will follow in Abercrombie Cemetery. Donations in Harold’s memory may be made to the Veteran’s Comfort Fund. Special thanks to all the nursing staff at the Veteran’s Unit, especially Dennis Chipman, Director of Recreation. Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34 New Glasgow, will meet at the funeral home at 6:45 pm Monday to conduct their service. Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
