It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence White, age 81 at the Northside General Hospital, on Sunday Dec. 7, 2014.
Born in North Sydney, April 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the Late Joseph Kendall, Conception Bay Newfoundland and Mary Florence Kendall (Gilliam), Channel, Newfoundland.
Florence is survived by her sisters, Mildred Archibald and Majorie Crews; both living in Ontario. She will be especially missed by her daughter Nancy (Paul); grandchildren, Tiffany and Daniel and her sons, Brian (Pauline); grandchildren Lindsay and Andre, David (Susan); grandchildren Randy, Kendra and Hannah and Donald (Karin); grandchildren Erica, Allison and Rebecca. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by the love of her life, her adoring husband George White. She was also predeceased by six brothers, Freeman Kendall, Joseph Kendall, Arthur Buck Kendall, Russell Kendall, Harry Kendall and Gordan Kendall (infant) and also four sisters, Gertie Thornhill, Edith Johnson, Rita Archibald and Julia Kendall (infant).
Florence was a member of Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines. Regularly, Florence would be found with her ‘Daily Bread’ Bible readings.
Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines. The funeral service will take place Thursday, 11 a.m. at Trinity Anglican Church in Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. Interment will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. McKeough, Dr. Knott, and the nursing staff at the Northside General Hospital for all their compassionate care. Florence’s kind heart and always her caring manner will be missed by all who knew her. A heartfelt ‘Thank you’ goes out to all those people in Florence’s neighbourhood who always helped in many ways throughout the years — giving her a drive when they saw her walking to town, mowing her lawn, shoveling snow and many more acts of kindness.
