Mary Theresa 'May'  Tobin

Born In: North Sydney

Passed in: North Sydney
Passed on: December 8th, 2014

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mary Theresa 'May' Tobin, on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Violet (Hodder) Parks.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. May was an avid walker and her daily walks proved beneficial when it came to spending hours at the mall, the woman loved to shop and it paid off. One look at May’s closet could tell you that she had more style than most women could even dream of. Her daughters would say that she looked better than all three of them when they went out, which was regularly. Besides shopping, May had a passion for live music and dancing and she rarely ever missed a concert. Despite her age, she loved to have fun and her down-for-anything attitude made for many adventures throughout her life. May also found great happiness in spending time with her family, she developed deep, affectionate and understanding relationships with all her children and grandchildren. To say May was a kind soul would be an understatement, she had a young, wild spirit, a heart big enough for anyone in need of some love, miraculous strength and a fashionable class that could never be duplicated and that is what she will be remembered for.
May is survived by her husband Emerson Tobin; her sons, Lindsay (Barbara), Florence, Darrell (Marion), North Sydney, Shawn (Jenny), Bras d’Or; her daughters, Arlene Tobin, North Sydney, Karen (Wayne) Viva, Summerside, P.E.I., Leanne (Ron) MacNeil, Florence; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Mary Elizabeth, Patrick, Katelyn, Shane, Zachary, Brendan and Breanna; her great-grandchildren, Parker, Jesse, Joshua. May is also survived by her sisters Ann (Dwight) Scott, St. Thomas, Ont., and Joan Ellis (Larry), North Sydney; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Richard Parks, infant brother Jackie and her sister Clara Russell.
Visitation for May will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
