ELLIS, Mary Elva – age 94, of Yarmouth, passed away at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on December 5, 2014. Born in Comeau’s Hill on October 4, 1920 she was a daughter of the late George and Marie (Fontane) Surette. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who loved her family dearly. She touched the heart of everyone she met. She was strong in her faith loving Jesus and her church, the Evangel Assembly, of which she was a long-time member. During Mary’s working years she was a foreman at Kennebec Fisheries (known as Scotia Gardens today). She was extremely fond of animals, especially her dog Marlo who misses her greatly. In her spare time she loved to read her bible. Mary is the last surviving member of her immediate family and is predeceased by her husband Gordon Ellis and son George Cleveland Saulnier. She is survived by her son, Delbert Saulnier; daughter, Shirley Ann (Bernie) Corprong; nephew, Gary (Sharon); grandsons, Richard (Doreen); Michael (Barb); great grandchildren, Courtney, Dawn, Joshua, Vernon, Rachel, great-great grandchildren, Brielle, Paige, Thor. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Monday, December 8, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Tuesday December 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Evangel Assembly Church, Pastor Cross and Pastor Oral Stewart officiated. Interment followed in Chebogue Cemetery (Town Point). Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth S.P.C.A, Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.
