Gerald Gaudet

GAUDET, GERALD "GERRY" G. - Gerald “Gerry” G. Gaudet, 75, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Phileas and Mary E. (Gaudet) Gaudet. Gerry was a retired school teacher at Birchmount School and attended St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church. A graduate of the Teachers College in Fredericton (1960), he received his BA and B.Ed. degrees from The University of Moncton. Gerry was a member of the Moncton Duplicate Bridge Club, a former Moncton Minor Hockey coach and a retired sports official for hockey, softball and basketball, officiating in three National Softball Tournaments. Gerry loved so much; he was a gentle soul, who loved his family, his home, sports, music and dancing; and oh how he loved the beach and the bridge club. Gerry will be sadly missed by his wife of 49 years, Jessie (Gauthier) Gaudet; daughter, Suzanne Gaudet Smith (Bob) of Riverview; son, Robert “Bob” (Kathy) of Moncton; grandchildren, Sarah, Keara, Chaz, Cameron and Zach; great granddaughter, Emma; sister, Frances Gaudet of Victoria, BC; brother, Pete Gaudet of Kingston, ON; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Philip (1999).
A Service to celebrate Gerry’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Charles Broderick officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe, in the spring. In Gerry’s memory, donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
