DOUTHWRIGHT, CLIVE EDWARD - The death of Clive Edward Douthwright of Quispamsis, NB, husband of Ann Percival occurred on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the age of 75 years. Clive fought a brave and long battle with cancer for 10 years. Clive's last Thanksgiving was celebrated with almost all of his family in Quispamsis as was his last summer vacation this year in Prince Edward Island. Clive is survived by his wife Ann, her sons Paul and Michael Nixon and her grandchildren Casey and Olivia; his son Steven, his wife Kelly and their children Megan, Adam and Alex of Tide Head, NB; his daughter Karen, her husband Bill Babstock and their children Chas, John and Carly of Quispamsis, NB; and his daughter Leanne, her husband Russell Girard and their children Hannah and Willem of Stittsville, ON. Clive was predeceased by his wife of 42 years Bernice (Arseneau) in 2002. Born in Saint John in 1939, he was the son of the late Russell and Eleanor (Mahar) Douthwright. Clive graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1957 and began to work immediately at NBTel where he worked for 42 years retiring as a Civil Electrical Engineering Technologist in Outside Planning and Provisioning. Clive was a long time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Rothesay and the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists. He also was a member of Probus. Clive loved volunteering with the Port Saint John and Cruise Saint John Meet and Greet Committee and was extremely proud when he earned the position of Team Leader. Clive also kept Tim Hortons and Java Moose in business meeting his buddies there daily. Clive is also survived by his sisters Audrey Murphy and Rosella McCann both of Saint John; Dianne Larsen of Hammonds Plains, NS; his brother Russell Douthwright of Saint John; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister Carol Perry.
Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Resurrection, which will be celebrated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at 1:00 PM. A reception will directly follow the Mass at Shadow Lawn, Rothesay. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
