Theresa (Hureau) MacQueen, 82, of 256 Royal Ave., Sydney, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Benoit) Hureau.
Theresa was a long time resident of Westmount and parishioner at Holy Rosary parish. She enjoyed a long and successful career at the Bank of Montreal until her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed traveling early in her retirement but with a deep love of her home island; Theresa spent the latter part of her retirement enjoying the culture and talent of Cape Breton as a regular show goer with close friends who were very dear to her. Theresa was known as a very generous and kind lady with a heart of gold.
She was predeceased by husband, Bill ‘Queenie’; sisters, Carmelita MacTavish, Jeannette Campbell and Evelyn Callaghan and brother-in-law, Leo Callaghan.
She is survived by her sisters, Delores (Bob) Martin and Josephine (Aubrey) Boone, both of Dartmouth; brothers-in-law, Sonny MacTavish, Sydney and Bernie Campbell, Greenwood, N.S. and 12 nephews and nieces. She was a special great aunt to 17 grandnephews and nieces.
There will be no visitation for the late Mrs. MacQueen. Theresa was very loved by her extended family, including many who live away. Due to these circumstances, a funeral will be held for Theresa in the spring when her loved ones can attend. The funeral will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nursed who were involved in her care as well as her two special care-workers, Chris and Sylvia.
