MORTIMER, ROBERT “BOB” DANIEL, SR. - With heavy hearts, the family of Bob Mortimer announce his passing on Monday, December 15, 2014 at his residence in Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born April 21, 1924, he was a son of the late John and Sadie (McLaughlin) Mortimer. Bob served overseas in the Army in World War II. He was a member of the Seniors Club at the Saint John City Market and loved playing bingo and doing his scratch tickets at Tim Hortons. He was well known uptown as “Cowboy Bob” and always attended dances with his good friend Mary, who predeceased him in April. Bob is survived by his children: Robert, Peter, Robert (Shannon), Rick, Shirley, and Allan; his brothers Jim (Hazel) and Joe (Joan); and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents and his friend Mary, he was predeceased by his wife, Lorna (Hooper), and his brothers: Walter, John, and Herb.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, with a Tribute to a Veteran Service being held at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 12 noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
