William 'Bill' Colin Chisholm, 88, formerly of Glace Bay, passed away on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, with his family and friends by his side.
Raised in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late William Colin Chisholm, Sr. and Margaret Christina (Lewis) Chisholm. In his younger years Bill was an avid stock car builder and racer known around the Maritimes as Mr. Clean, his car was always #5. He loved to snowmobile starting in 1967 with two 10 HP Skidoos and he was a founding member of Eastern Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club. Over the years Bill spent a lot of his spare time working out in his garage welding, building, and fixing, and visiting with his many friends who stopped by on a nightly basis. Bill was a proud truck driver first for Eastern Transport and later for Moosehead Breweries. His favourite place to hang out was at the Reserve Mines Tim Horton's with his many friends.
Bill will be sadly missed by his daughters, Elizabeth, Saint John, N.B., Jacquelyn (Paul Daniels), Pictou County, N.S., and Grace (Tom LeCreux), Pictou County, N.S. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Christine and Phillip (Alina) Daniels and Miranda and Sarah LeCreux; his chosen grandson, Jim (Janet) Rogers, Pictou County, N.S. and his great-grandchildren, Ty, Brydon and Grace Anne and special nieces and nephews, especially the Cape Breton crew.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Christine Patterson (MacLeod) Chisholm in 2012; sisters, Jean Cornell in 2008, Katherine Lamorie in 2007 and special niece, Chrissie (Lamorie) Ozinga in 2013.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at Pattens Funeral Home from 2–4 and 7-9 p.m., followed by cremation. The funeral service will be held on Dec. 19, 2014 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating and following the reception interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
