Born In: Mira Road

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: December 13th, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Bill Mader, announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, after 83 years with us. His loving wife, Anna was at his side.
Bill was born, raised and was a lifetime resident of Mira Road. He was the eldest child of the late Guy and Mary (Peters) Mader. Bill was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and his quick wit and kind heart will be greatly missed by his close family and friends.
Bill was a giant of a man with a kind and gentle soul. For over 40 years, he was employed with Municipal Ready Mix and had a backhoe and snow plowing business after his retirement. His many hobbies included, hunting in his earlier days and in recent years, he and Anna enjoyed fishing in Gabarus. They also were avid gardeners and you could always find them tending to their vegetable patch behind their home.
Bill is survived by his wife and best friend, Anna (Wesolkowska) and her children, Maria Magdalena (Peter), Toronto and Slawomir (Anna) Wesolkowski, Ottawa, as well as her grandchildren, Emilia and Natalia, who Bill absolutely adored and cherished. He often said he was blessed to have Anna in his life. Bill is also survived by his loving sister, Dorothy Trenholm, Sydney; brother, John, Vancouver; sisters, Elaine, Toronto and Linda, Sydney, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his loving first wife, Iris (Lowther); his sister, Ellen and brothers, Robert, Edward, Lawrence and David.
Following Bill’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at the Church of Christ the King on George Street, with a reception to follow at St. Georges Parish Hall on Nepean Street. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens will take place immediately following the reception.
Per Bill and Anna’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
