Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Monday, December 15, 2014, Nellie Brace (nee Parsons), age 82 years. Predeceased by her infant daughter, Elizabeth; mother, Gladys Whalen; and brother, Clarence Whalen. Leaving to mourn, her loving husband of 65 years, John Brace; children: Nelson (Marion), Myra (Warren), Dorothy (Tony), Allan (Cathy), Randy (Joan) and Rodney (Paula); 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Norman (Jean), Ford (Shirley), Annie, Jim (Jane) and Glenis; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends - including the Antle Family, Jeff Taylor, Don Penny, and Wade White. Special thank you to the staff at Bonaventure Retirement Home and the nurses, doctors, and staff of CCU at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Wednesday, December 17, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Thursday, December 18, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, with cremation to follow. Funeral service will be held from Barrett's Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 11:00am, with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations in Nellie's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
