Brenda Harland

Passed on: December 15th, 2014

It is with great sadness that the family of Brenda Faye Harland announces her passing after a determined battle with cancer, on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the age of 67. Throughout Brenda’s life, her profound dedication to family brought joy to her life and those around her. Family events, days at the cottage, and chats around the kitchen table were the times that Brenda cherished. Surrounded by the stories and joys of raising her family, and creating new memories in the imaginations of her grandchildren, ‘Mimi’ held those moments as precious and irreplaceable. Aside from the importance of family, Brenda was a dedicated professional, graduating in 1967 from the Children’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse and building a gratifying career that, again, exemplified her devotion to the lives of others. Brenda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Frank, and her children, Paula Walton (Peter), Corinne Hainstock (Ryan), and Jonathan Harland (Kathy). Brenda adored, and was adored, by her grandchildren, Aiden Hainstock, Nathan Walton, Lauren Hainstock, Grace Walton, Lucy Harland, Ellie Harland, and Olive Harland. Brenda will be remembered by her mother, Pauline Misner, her brother, Stephen Misner (Glenis), and her sister, Sue Bligh (Brian). A special thanks to her dear friends Diane MacDonald, Linda King, and Althea Woods for their kind support, particularly as she fought her illness. The family would also like to thank her palliative care provider, the Oncology Unit at the Valley Regional Hospital, VON, and Dr. Mike Wadden for their compassion and care. The funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line inquires may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
