Blanchard, Georgina Catherine (Gina) – age 88, of Quinan. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Gina passed away at the Yarmouth hospital on December 17th, 2014. Born in Quinan, she was the daughter of the late Josie and Irène (Frotten) Doucette. She attended Normal College and taught school until her retirement. She was a devoted member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Quinan, where she was the organist for many years, starting at the age eleven. She was a member of the Quinan New Horizons Club.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Nelson J. Blanchard; daughters Claire (David) Muise, Cole Harbour; Pearl (Jim) Muise, Quinan; son Clark (Brenda) Blanchard, Shelburne; and her sister Dorothy (Raymond) Bowers, Arcadia.
Loving Grandmère to Adrienne (Sabet), Ian (Matt), Marielle (Joseph), Michelle, Laura (Kevin), André, Chantal, and Grand-grandmère to Riley and Sophie. Her greatest joy was her family, and she devoted her entire self to their care and well-being. We now have a personal angel in heaven as her grandchildren have expressed.
Thanks to the Quinan first responders, the Yarmouth Paramedics, the ER staff and 3 South staff at Yarmouth Hospital, Dr. Roland Muise and Dr. Tom Muise for always being there for our parents. A special thanks to Sylvestre Muise who is like a son to her, always helping in every way.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Friday December 19, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Saturday December 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Quinan, Fr. Gerald LeBlanc and Fr. Pat O’Meara officiated.
Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Reception followed at the Quinan Hall.
Donation can be made to St. Agnes Catholic church, Quinan. Family flowers only by request.
