It is with heavy hearts, that we, the family of William Locke announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, after a brief struggle with cancer.
Born in Main-a-Dieu on March 10, 1940, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth ‘Jenny’ (Boutilier) Locke.
Bill was employed for many years as an automotive salesperson. Most recently he was the representative for Arsenault Monuments. He enjoyed spending time with friends, old and new and with his family. Bill always had a friendly smile, time to chat and a joke to share.
He is survived by three sons, Joe (Cheryl), Trenton, Ont., Glenn (Allison), Sydney, Calvin (Tammy), Fort McMurray, Alta.. and one daughter, Debbie (Brendon) McIntyre, Glace Bay. He was the proud papa of 10 grandchildren and papapa of two great-grandchildren. Bill is also survived by eight brothers, George, Doug, Tom, Charlie, Pius, Les, Flynn, Angus and two sisters, Josepha and Regina.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, Lucy Ann (Doucette) Locke, and a brother, Cecil.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A mass celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Dan Boudreau officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery followed by a reception in the church hall.
