Passed away peacefully at the age of 101 at the Interfaith Long-term care Home in Carbonear on December 22nd, 2014, Mary Blanche Stockwood, of Gull Island. Pre-deceased by her loving husband Gideon, and son Robert. Blanche was a devoted homemaker and an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. She was a faithful church goer who played church organ for over 50 years. She was the rock of the family and assisted our Dad by working beside him in the fishery. She was told many times that she could salt fish better than any man in Gull Island! We'll miss her deeply. Leaving to mourn, sons, Leslie (Shirley), Ray (Beverly), Harold (Rose-Marie), daughters Jean Mansbridge (Jim-deceased), Marie Whalen (Boyd), Carol Villemaire (Yves); Grandchildren Gary, Terry, Gail, Kim, Bonnie, Blaine, Brad, Melissa, Marc and Natalie; 17 Great-Grand Children and 2 Great-great Grandchildren. Visitation at Noels Funeral Home in Western Bay, on Boxing Day, December 26th, from 2pm-5pm, and 7pm-9pm, and December 27th from 10:30am-12:00pm, 2pm-5pm, and 7pm-9pm. Funeral service will take place on Sunday, December 28 at 2pm at Memorial United Church, Burnt Point. Internment to follow at the United Cemetery, Burnt Point. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Memorial United Church, Burnt Point.
