Isobel Leeman

LEEMAN, ISOBEL (1938 - 2014) - Bathurst - Mrs. Isobel Leeman, 76, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, following a brief illness. Her last days were peaceful, and she was surrounded by her friends and family. Born in Black Rock, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Grant) Driscoll. She was a much loved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. In her early years, she was a nurse in the Pediatric ward of the Hotel Dieu Hospital until she decided to devote her time to her family. She was a remarkable woman and we will miss her greatly. We remember her full of life, entertaining us with her unparallel imagination. She taught her three daughters how to find the magic in the world. To be able to marvel at the beauty of a butterfly, to listen enthralled to the sweet song of a bird and savor the taste of a fresh picked strawberry, warm and juicy from her garden. She passed on the joy of believing in the magic of every moment to her six grandchildren, who gathered from across the continent to say goodbye. Most importantly she taught us how to love. We were blessed to witness the love she shared with her husband of 53 years, Todd Leeman. We have never seen a couple who were so devoted to each other. Every spring you could find them at the Red Cabin Sugary, enjoying nature and each others company.
She is survived by her devoted husband Todd Leeman of Chalmers Court, Bathurst, her daughters: Kelli MacDonald (Kelly) of Cape Breton, NS, Kara Vigants (John) of Houston, TX, USA and Kimberly Vandenbrand (David) of Bathurst, her six grandchildren: Erin, Sara, Elizabeth, Ryan, Curtis, Isabella and her twin sister, Trudy Payer of Bathurst. She loved her family and her grandchildren were very special to her. Her love will remain with us always.
There will be no formal funeral service. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday afternoon December 30, 2014, at Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst, from 2 to 4 p.m. Donations in memory of Isobel may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation or a favorite charity.
