John Mahar

MAHAR, JOHN "JACK" CHANDLER ALEXANDER - January 27, 1925 - December 22, 2014 - Jack was promoted to glory to forever be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. A faithful husband, he is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Gladys (Dines), daughter-in-law Marie Mahar of Lincoln, daughter Karen (Ron) Wilson of Winnipeg, grandchildren Gerry Mahar, Janet Mahar, Tim Wilson (McKenzi), William Mahar and Daniel Wilson (fiancée Nicole) and sisters Marion, Irene and June. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Robert and Matilda, son John W. and siblings Robert, May, Blanche, Tom, Hellen and Ann. Jack was a generous person who would never let anyone go without. His generosity came from his dear Papa (his father) who Jack always said would give you the shirt off his back. Jack provided well for his family over the years, first through a mobile meat-truck business, then through Topmar Housing & Construction and Topmar Building Supplies. Jack loved family gatherings, especially at Maquapit Lake, and any excuse for “a feed”. He was a faithful member of Lincoln Baptist Church, The Gideons and CBMC. One of his great loves was Green Hill Lake Camp, where he was blessed to volunteer after his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, having served at D-Day, then in Belgium and Holland. Special thanks to Dr. Keddy – his doctor of 40+ years – and the staff in 4NW and 4E at the DECRH.
A Homegoing service will be held on December 28, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Lincoln Baptist Church, 2275 Rte 102, Lincoln. A reception will follow the service. Due to allergies, please refrain from wearing fragrances of any kind.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack may be made to Lincoln Baptist Church Building Fund, Green Hill Lake Camp or The Gideons. Arrangements are in the care of McAdam’s Funeral Home. Online condolences and sharing of memories can be made through www.mcadamsfh.com
