DEVEAU, Barbara Ella – 74, South Ohio, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born April 23, 1940 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Bessie M. (Blades) Newell. Barbara worked at the cotton mill in Yarmouth, after which she became a Personal Care Worker, having last worked at Villa Saint-Joseph-du-Lac in Dayton. Aside from spending time with her family, she loved bingo. She is survived by her four sons, John (Carol) Deveau, South Ohio; Patrick (Gail) Deveau, Yarmouth; Michael (Mariah) Deveau, Maine; Greg (Kerry) Deveau, Wolfville; grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Garret, Nicole, Angela, Adam, Daniel, Sarah, Jacqueline, Natalie, William and Tyler, as well as by a great granddaughter, Rylee Teagan. Also surviving are brothers, Gordon (Anita) Newell, Wainwright, AB; Richard Newell, Yarmouth, and her sister and best friend, Judy Muise, Yarmouth, along with many nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gregory Deveau; brothers, George, Matthew and William Newell; sisters, Bertha Gray, Sadie LeBlanc, Jennie Homeney and Connie Newell. Visitation took place from 7-9 Saturday and again from 7-9 Sunday, with prayers at 8 p.m. Sunday at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 29 from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Patrick O’Meara officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth, after which the family invited you to join them at the Jubilee Room (downstairs at St. Ambrose Cathedral), for a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation (ALC Unit).
