LOCH BROOM – With broken hearts, the family of the late Donald Leonard “Donnie” White, Loch Broom, sadly announce his passing on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, after a life well lived.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Elmer “Mike” and Dorothy Jeanne (Stewart) White. Donnie owned and operated Don White’s Auto Body, Loch Broom for 41 years. Fixing cars was not only a job, it was a passion, and he once exclaimed, “I’ve painted everything from a Volkswagen to a Cadillac”. His favourite hobby was restoring fancy cars and rebuilt at least 40 Corvettes. Donnie always had a project on the go. He was the “go-to-guy” for his family and friends. He could be called for anything and would always offer the best advice. Donnie was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed many hours at Big Island smelt fishing with his friends. He was a prankster and always had something funny to say, making people laugh. Donnie’s family knew he loved them, he left nothing unsaid. He was a loving father and papa who loved his family unconditionally.
Surviving are children, Michael, Grande Prairie, Alta.; Linda White, Springville; Nicholas “Nick” (Brittany), Loch Broom; brother, Stewart “Stew”, Lyon’s Brook; sister, Jane (Bob) MacKay, Yellowknife, N.W.T.; grandchildren, Haley Don, Bauer and Layne; mothers of his children, Elaine “Nana” and Adele “Grammie”; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
The family will receive visitors 10-10:50 a.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Private interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
