It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gary Leigh Sloan age 33 of Amherst on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.
Gary was born in Halifax and was a son of Phyllis (LeBlanc) Sloan and the late Gary Sloan.
Gary had a great passion for sports especially basketball and was an avid Toronto Raptor and Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
He was a past member of the Boys and Girls club in Summerside, PE for many years.
Gary’s family and friends will always cherish his memories and he will never be forgotten.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mom, Phyllis (Cyril) Sloan; beloved brother, Craig (Bethany), Amherst; stepdaughter, Paige Pitre, Moncton, NB; paternal grandmother, Hilda (Ripley) Sloan, Sackville, NB; special aunts, Faye, Mona (Nan) and Carol; uncles, Mitch LeBlanc, Eric Sloan and Bill Sloan; cherished nephews, Mason, Maks; niece, Abi; as well as a large extended family and friends.
In addition to his dad, Gary, he was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Bill Sloan; maternal grandparents, Albert and Faye (Hurley) LeBlanc; as well as four uncles; and one special aunt, Theresa.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906).
Funeral service will take place on Sunday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
Reception will follow in the church vestry. Interment will be held at a later date in the Sackville Cemetery beside his dad.
