McClellan, Perley Almer, 92, Bible Hill. We are sad to announce the passing of Perley Almer McClellan on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, N.S. He was a father, grandfather, great grandfather, great, great grandfather, loving uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and a great friend to many. Born in Calais, Maine, May 31, 1922, he was the son of the late Perley (Richard) and Verna (Ayer/McClellan) Hannan; and was the step-son of the late Vernon Hannan. He moved to Bible Hill in 1951. Perley was a great dad and an awesome grampy to his 96 grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Perley was a barber and an artist for many years. His paintings are hung all over the world. He enjoyed playing music on his harmonica and singing. He loved playing checkers, watching boxing, and talking to his special friend, Brian the mailman, on the phone. He is survived by his 10 children, Perley “Butch” (Jeannie), Joyce Arsenault-Nelson (David), Richard (Edna), Barb Webb (Larry), William (Linda), Malcolm (Nancy), Danny (Laurie), Angie Wood (Danny), John (Wanda), Roger (Leslie); sisters-in-law, Hazel McClelland, Bible Hill, Dorothy Bogue, CT, Joan Staples, NY, Judith Anne Hammond, Ellsworth, Maine; brothers-in-law, John, California, Robert and Elmer, both of Maine; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend of 72 years, Thelma Gertrude McClellan; son, Paul; sisters, June and Thelma; brother, Paul; brothers-in-law, LeRoy, Kenneth, James and Charles, all of Maine. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3rd from 1 p.m. until the start of the funeral at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Carmen Webb officiating. Interment will be in Bible Hill Cemetery in the spring of 2015. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the East Cumberland Lodge, 262 Church St., Pugwash, N/S., B0K 1L0;to the War Amps; to the Alzheimer Society of N.S. or to a charity of choice.
